Burna Boy has joined Nigerians on social media in calling out the officers Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), who reportedly gunned down Kolade Johnson on Sunday afternoon.
Recall that Johnson was hit by a stray bullet fired by the police officers during a raid in his neighbourhood in Lagos. His death quickly stirred heated conversations on social media, with many people calling for the scrapping of the police unit.
Now, Burna Boy says hashtags and social media outrage will change nothing, that these officers will continue to carry on with their activities, as Nigerians had seen in the past. Instead, he is calling for a real showdown between the youths and these officers.
“Until we are really ready to fight SARS and the powers that be, and I’m not talking about any protest or aimless marching. I mean really fight. Nobody should include me in any #EndSARS hashtags because you are wasting my time and yours,” he said.
And he said a lot more.
