OAP Toolz Recounts Her COVID-19 Experience

OAP, Toolz has recounted how she and her husband tested positive for coronavirus, but luckily their children tested negative.

She explained in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

Toolz revealed that she and her husband, Captain Tunde Demuren, lost their sense of smell and taste while testing positive for the virus.

However, she was primarily concerned about the covid-19 status of her two children, but they were not affected.

She wrote;

“Feeling super grateful to God today! This time last month, we were going through a very scary period! Almost everyone in our home (including me) tested positive for Covid-19.

“I was about to go back to work after my motherhood, and it all started with the Captain complaining of ‘malaria-like’ symptoms. He had them for a few days, and he didn’t seem to get better … so we ended up taking him to the hospital.

“He had had a test for Covid-19 a few days before that came back negative, so I thought it was a serious case of malaria. He was admitted with malaria and a bacterial infection, we were told. After receiving intravenous antibiotics and other medications, he still did not improve.

“I decided to transfer him to a different hospital, and they did the test again, and he ‘blew up’ the test according to the doctor. My body went cold and my first thought was ‘OMG the babies !!’ Then a short time later, I thought of myself. I did a quick test and it came back positive.

“Neither of us initially had the common symptoms, no cough, no respiratory problems… although later I lost my smell and taste. The captain was in the hospital for a week and this was at the time of the Lekki shooting, so he was doubly terrified.

“My main fear was the babies… especially our youngest, since he was just 3 months old. We didn’t test them, but I was sure they had Covid too, as we literally kiss and hug our guys every day. The doctor assured us that they would not be affected.

“Thank God the doctor was right, aside from a sneeze here and there, our babies were perfectly fine. Overall I was fine too, just scared. Once you get that positive result, you get all these random symptoms that you didn’t have before. My back would hurt … it would be like hmmm crown oo

“The strangest thing was the taste and the smell. Everything the Captain had known wrong, he’s a foodie, so that was weird. One of my superpowers is my sense of smell … and it gradually faded away. In fact, one day I put a bottle of bleach under my nose and … nothing.

“I kept waiting to get sick and it didn’t happen. I started to think I had indaboski blood, but then I had 2 days where I felt like I had the worst hangover in the world, then there was some fatigue, but overall I was fine.

”The captain, on the other hand, felt very exhausted, could not keep food down, had cramps everywhere and a lot of other symptoms. After a week, he returned home and we finished our period of isolation together.

“After 2 weeks, we all took the test again and luckily we all came back negative. Thank God Almighty for helping us, a big thank you to the doctors who treated us … especially to Dr. Majekodunmi from Eurocare for the constant peace of mind and for taking my one million calls

“I am very grateful that I did not receive it while I was pregnant. Imagine that I traveled to have my baby, I returned, I did 7 covid tests and it was the eighth that was positive. The craziest thing was that a week before I legitimately told someone that Covid was already in Lagos. Silly me. “She concluded.”
