Actress, Somkele Shares Moving Video As She Opens Up For The First Time About Her Son’s Cancer Diagnosis

Actress Somkele Iyamah Idhalama revealed today that her son was diagnosed with cancer exactly three years ago.

She recounted how she had traveled to South Africa for the wedding of Banky W and Adesua Etomi.

After helping Adesua put on her reception gown before her wedding day, she said she was in the hotel lobby when she received a call about her son’s cancer diagnosis.

He had to fly out of SA immediately without attending the wedding.

Her son is now cancer free and she shared the good news on Instagram. She said they got the good news last week on Monday that their son beat cancer and decided to share the news today, which is Thanksgiving in the United States.

Sharing a moving video of her son’s journey with cancer, she wrote: “The last 3 years have been nothing less than miracle with miracle after miracle after miracle. On Monday of last week, we received the incredible news, almost 5 months ahead of schedule, that our baby is certified #CancerFree!

“Where do I begin to thank all the people who met and supported us along the way? @sickkidstoronto you have a special place in heaven, Dr. Summit Gupta and your entire oncology team !! I am holding back the tears that are overwhelming !! This video is just a dust sample to explain this trip. But what I will tell you is this, there is a living God. Period!

“Let me give you an overview of November 1-20. I did the #HallelujahChallenge with @nathanielblow and fasted the entire way. On the 21st I landed in South Africa, on the 22nd I received the news that our son was diagnosed with acute childhood cancer. On the 23rd I returned to Nigeria and the rest I summarized in the video.

“Your faith will be tested but do not fear because He has won and you and me too. So for those whose weddings, milestones, and projects I had to miss or decline, please forgive me by rejoicing with me today.

“Come join me in singing Hallelujah, Jehovah Jireh has done me good”
